How To Enjoy Yourself In The Canary Islands

by Robert M Freeman

The Canary Islands are an archipelago consisting of seven large and one small island to be found off the North West coast of Africa in the North Atlantic Ocean. The Canary Islands are a part of Spain. The spring time climate of these islands is what pulls in millions of tourists each year to tour them. The Canary Islands have a volcanic origin, and the Teide volcano on Tenerife is the premier mountain in Spain and the third largest volcano located on an ocean island.

The seven bigger islands, El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and Tenerife are all unique as compared to each other, and each has something different to offer to visitors. The beaches and the Atlantic Ocean offer swimming, sailing, water sports, and para-gliding.

There are a number of spas, health clinics, and beauty saloons in the Canary Islands that offer the latest and most sophisticated techniques employed to help relax and improve personal appearances. Qualified professionals use algae, sand, mud, hydrotherapy, sauna, volcanic stones, and passive gymnastics to work out stress and help the body to rejuvenate.

The landscape of the Canary Islands is so unique from volcanic to sand dunes to lush woodlands, that it cannot be imagined that there exists so much diversity in such a small area. For nature lovers, there are trails and picturesque villages that are truly wondrous. There is so much variety in the species of fauna that can be found over here. There are 141 protected areas and 4 national parks. The best way to absorb the beauty of the Canary Islands is either by flying over them or through para gliding.

To uncover more about the rich cultural customs of these islands, days can be spent touring archeological sites, museums, and ethnographic parks. The historical heritage is a walk into living history with the colonial style houses, cobblestone streets, and places that have been watchfully renovated. There are a range of local exhibitions and festivals that are organized throughout the year.

Sailing in the Canaries is an unforgettable experience where dolphins and whales swim along the boats. All the water sports imaginable are available here including deep sea fishing. There is something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Boats can be hired or chartered depending on how well a person can handle a boat, and how good they are at navigating their way around the islands.

Golfers would obviously want to enjoy a few rounds of golf, and the Canary Islands are certainly a golfer's paradise. All the islands have golf courses and the majority of them are situated close to the sea. The golfers will be faced some strange obstacles on the courses over here. However, playing in the lovely weather is always a delight.

There are a variety of places to live in at the Canary Islands. The sea food most commonly found at the Islands is really scrumptious and succulent.

For an amazing vacation, the Canary Islands are an amazing treat and it cannot be thought that such a jewel of nature is just 4 hours by air from many cities in Europe.
