Holiday Cottage In Corfu

A holiday cottage in Corfu provides you with the chance to explore what this island that is in the Ionian Sea has to offer. Of all the Islands to be found here off the Greek coast this is the second largest and is one of the greenest as well.

On it, there grows more than 3 million olive trees and the oil from these is one of the main exports from the island. However, tourism is also important to the island and many people come to it in order to spend time of some of the most beautiful beaches to be found in this part of the world. Yet for those who do crave a little excitement during their holiday this ideally has plenty for one to do and also some great nightlife as well.

As one tours the island, you will soon discover that you are spoilt for choice when it comes to, selecting which of the many different beaches it is you wish to spend time at. Below we take a look at some of the beaches on offer on this island and where they are located.

1. Arillas Beach – This is one of the easiest of all the beaches on the island to be found and is also one of the most beautiful as well. The great thing about this beach is that it provides plenty of shelter from the strong winds that sometimes come off of the Ionian Sea because it is located inside some rock formations.

2. Agios Gordis Beach – This one is to be found just 35 minutes from Corfu town and is one of the longest on the island. But be warned this beach is a favorite with many visitors to the island and has become what commercialized. As you will discover there are plenty of places located close to it, where you can either stay or just sit and have a drink or eat some of the local delicacies. Actually getting from Corfu town to the beach is quite easy as there is a regular bus service.

3. Barbati Beach – This beach is about 13 miles (21km) from Corfu’s capital located close to the town Nissaki. Because the beach is well maintained and kept, clean it has been honored the Blue Flag aware. Here if you want do not want to sit directly on the sand you are able to rent sun beds and umbrellas.

4. Gialiskari Beach – If you are looking for a beach that is away from the hustle and bustle of many of the islands other beaches this will be the ideal one to go to. Yet although it is much quieter, it still provides you with the same kinds of facilities that other more well known and travelled to ones have. There are plenty of places along it where you can have a snack or meal if you so wish.

As well as the beaches mentioned above there are others that one might want to consider spending time at. After settling into your holiday cottage in Corfu why not spend some time study a few local maps in order to see what beaches are where and which ones you feel will suit your requirements.
