Sardinia Holiday Villas

by Steve Woodward

When it comes to renting holiday villas in Sardinia there are a number of different locations to choose from. But which area you choose will depend on just how much you want to spend on your holiday accommodation and when you want to rent the villa from.

During the summer months and especially August then renting a villa in Sardinia should be avoided if at all possible. This is simply because this is a time when many Italians who are based in Rome or Como will take their annual summer vacation and select to visit the island.

But although August is the busiest month and difficult for getting a villa to rent during the rest of the summer (June, July and September) rentals are a little easier. Even so, you still may find it a little difficult trying to get the exact villa that you want. If you can it is best to arrange your accommodation as far in advance of your holiday as possible. Also, why restrict yourself to the areas where all the tourists go and instead head further inland and try areas where you can really get a feel for the life of the Italians that live on the island.

The areas that you may wish to avoid are Costa Smeralda, Porto Cervo and Porto Rotondo. This is because villa rental prices are extremely high as these are places where the rich and famous like to take their vacations because of what these areas have to offer.

One place that you may well want to consider renting a villa in is the Sardinian capital, Cagliari. Not only does it have a large number of different villas to choose from but it will also suit any kind of holiday budget as well. Plus the other benefit of renting a villa here is that you are centrally located and so able to explore and visit other parts of the island easily. Plus you may find a location that you like for your next holiday and a quick search online you may discover that there are villas to rent there as well.

Whereas if you are someone who has far less money to spend on the vacation accommodation then why not looking at renting a villa in the Port of Alghero. This is located on the northwest coast of Sardinia and now one of its most important tourist areas.

Although it does not boast the same kind of nightlife as you would find in Costa Smeralda it does offer some of the most beautiful beaches to be found in this part of Italy. Also, you have the chance to wander around the streets of the old part of the village that are enclosed behind stout walls with their Spanish feel.

When trying to find the ideal villa to rent in Sardinia the best place to start your search is by going online. There are numerous companies along with villa owners who advertise such properties to rent. But it is important before you make that all-important booking you spend time comparing what each villa has to offer. Also, do not just book any holiday villas in Sardinia just because you like the look of them.
