Because these places offer outstanding culture for everyone, they are protected. Consider this: In the entire world, there are only 851 protected sites. Some of the sites that are protected are the centers in Florence, Siena, Penza and San Gimignano. Also are the Val d’Orcia and the square of the Cathedral of Pisa, which is also known as the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
The Duomo Cathedral represents Italian Romanesque culture at its finest, and can be found in Siena. While you are in Florence, you must also see Santa Maria del Flore, another magnificent piece of architecture. The Ponche Vencho Bridge is an amazingly old bridge, another jewel of Florence. Held up by stilts, the old bridge also has shops built along the edge.
In San Gimignano, there is a small town on top of a hill. Renowned for its medieval architecture, the town is walled and has 14 towers that you can see from miles away.
The 14 towers have withstood wars, and major disaster and has still kept is beautiful towers as works of art, which you will be able to see on your Tuscany tours. Then there is Val d’Orcia, protected for its quaint little villages and the beautiful rolling hills. You shouldn’t leave Italy without visiting this place once.
